Understanding Piles
A bulged rectal vein along the tracks of anal which causes pain and irritation in the anal area is called piles. The obstructions caused in the three types of veins in the region develop some pressure that is felt as pain or irritation.
Normally there are two types of piles-internal and external. By the very word external piles occur outside the anal region and creates pain as the region has innumerable nerves. In case of Internal piles, you would not feel the pain but chances of becoming severe are more. A person could have either of them or both together.
If we look a the reasons for these piles we have a long list. Sitting in a vertical position for a long time, frequent constipation, intake of excessive spicy food and, pregnancy in case of women and so on.
You first feel a lighter pain and followed by bleeding. This is the initial stage. Once swelling commences and a protrusion occurs during stool it can be considered to be somewhat serious. The protrusion sometimes will not go back into the anus. Continuous itching will lead to infection and the piles takes its several forms. Never mind about these medical terms and look for treatments which is required for your various stages. For chronic cases sclerosant injection, surgery, rubber band knots help you to get relieved of piles.
However it is better to take preventive steps such as consuming lots of fibre rich foods and fruits and avoid spicy foods. Drink sufficient quantity of water, and keep regular bowl habits.
